What you'll do as a part of the GoHealth Web Development Team...

  • Practice Scrum and all its ceremonies (planning meetings, demos and retrospective meetings). Everyone is given an opportunity to be a Scrum Master.
  • Stand to meet daily in front of our task boards. Yes, we use Post-It notes.
  • Create, innovate and conduct "brown-bag" technical sessions.
  • Everyone writes code

A Web Developer's primary focus will be to anchor a team responsible for improving site usability, click-to-lead conversion and data validation of consumer-facing health insurance shopping tools like our quote engine and electronic applications.

What you will do everyday...

  • Turn business requirements and high-level designs into production functionalities on consumer-facing websites. Make it happen!
  • Work with copywriters to create continuity of design and content. Make it usable!
  • Design new features and enhancements for consumer facing technologies. Then make it better!
  • Document all code and designs
  • Maintain and debug production websites
  • Communicate with managers to ensure deadlines are met

Skills you need for the job...

  • Expertise in front-end web development (XHTML, JavaScript, CSS, jQuery and other JavaScript frameworks)
  • Experience in cross-platform compatibility (IE, Firefox, mobile browsers)
  • Experience in creating user interfaces from design concepts
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Experience developing with Java Server Pages
  • Experience with version control systems (Mercurial preferred)
  • Experience working in a small to mid-size company with an agile development process
  • Willingness to learn and be part of a fast-growing department
